Well, officially goes another year, especially this year's achievements, failures and uncertainties enter, if however the most important is that we stand. I have often heard that time does not really exist, and that human beings divide it for various purposes, and that time is not stopped, may be right, but more important is to enjoy it. After more than 450 discs and over 4500 songs, this project despite having fallen still alive more than ever, and the goal seems closer than yesterday, thanks to all who visit especially to my friend Chamberlain, Elizabeth and my friends and relatives, also especially my uncle. A year is ready to celebrate
again we turn to the family we found this beautiful and totally special date, we celebrate Christmas Eve together and Christmas ... We must not suffer or mourn for those who are no longer with us, secure in our table also come to celebrate,
and be on top of the clear skies experiencing the grandeur of eternal life and to celebrate,
most beautiful festivals. Tonight is beautiful, the most beautiful and special, is full of joy peace and happiness, we are confident that the world is brotherhood,
all we celebrate Christmas Eve so Merry Christmas to all

Metallica - Orgullo, Pasión Y Gloria: Tres Noches en la Ciudad de Mexico [2-DVDRip] (2009)

Well, maybe this could be my last major contribution, and what better than a big one. For a long time Metallica has emerged as one of the greatest metal bands of all time, what I think along with Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath and Judas Priest are among the few bands that generate so many expectations on every pitch an album, so make them enter the hall of fame. Among his musical style in the speed and thrash metal bands as good as Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax have made a great effort to go somewhere in the Great called Thrash Metal, Metallica however based combined effort, large items and live albums has kept the taste of the new younger generation, which for many is more marketing than making good music, nicknames like "Metallica $ h" could dent the self-esteem of any band, but not Metallica, since despite all these statements bickering, Metallica remains vivid picture, the essence of the new generations keep them alive and without doubt, his legacy continues to grow. After S & M did not believe that any other Metallica album is exceeded, but 3 nights in Mexico City seems to raise his hand, definitely the title says it all, better choice even in dreams, Pride, could define a career so successful and proliferative Passion; go that if Mexico were 150,000 people not give anything, Gloria; definitely great to get one.

Casey Jones - The Few, The Proud, The Crucial (2004)

If emo has an enduring legacy, it's this: it has forced Hardcore to think about chord changes. The members of Casey Jones would probably shudder to see the word "Emo" mentioned anywhere near them, their stance is straight-up straight-edge, and they don't shy away from preaching about it either, but there's no question that these chord progressions come from someplace other than the Minor Threat songbook. That's not to say that there's anything as wimpy as a melody to be found on the album, but there's an underlying harmonic complexity to songs like "Just Another Day in the Fla," "Meaner Than a Junkyard Dog," and "Pigs Is Pigs" that belies their lyrical obviousness ("This is my pledge," "I refuse," "Grow up/Step up," "Where do you stand?," etc.). The between song vignettes are dumb and unnecessary, but the album ends with a brilliantly minimalist example of straight-edge hip-hop credited to one Johnny Unstoppable, who drops this deathless slant rhyme: "Back then my mom thought all my friends were Satanists/Now they're not even my friends, they're just acquaintances." The Dear Hunter - Act III: Life and Death (2009)

When the subject of concept albums comes up, rock historians tend to think of the 1970's and 80's. Pink Floyd The Wall, the Who Quadrophenia, and Elton John Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy are often cited as great concept albums of the 70's, and Queensrÿche Operation: Mindcrime from 1988 is widely regarded as the ultimate power metal concept album. But concept albums didn't disappear when alternative rock became rock primary direction in the early 90's. Green Day American Idiot (2004) and Radiohead OK Computer (1997) are well, known alternative rock concept albums, and the concept album approach is alive and well on the Dear Hunter 2009 release Act III: Life and Death. This CD is the third of a series of Dear Hunter albums focusing on a character called "The Boy"; in Act III, The Boy is now a man, and the songs describe his struggles in life. Some concept albums have become a victim of their own ambition; they had great intentions but were damaged by their lofty excesses. Thankfully, that doesn't happen on Act III: Life and Death, which finds lead singer Casey Crescenzo ambition paying off handsomely. Successful concept albums work well as a cohesive whole but also have great songs that stand on their own, and that holds true on Act III: Life and Death. It's best to listen to this CD from start to finish in one sitting in order to get the concept album experience, but even if one isn't big on concept albums, tracks like "Life and Death," "The Poison Woman," and "Go Get Your Gun" have no problem standing on their own. Crescenzo brings a wide variety of influences to this disc, ranging from Radiohead and Coldplay to Queen, the Beach Boys, and the Beatles; the result is an engaging alternative pop/rock effort that has a strong awareness of classic rock but without sounding overtly nostalgic. Crescenzo willingness to turn to different rock eras for creative inspiration yields excellent results on Act III: Life and Death.

Slayer - Seasons in the Abyss (1990)

After staking out new territory with the underrated South of Heaven, Slayer brought back some of the pounding speed of Reign in Blood for their third major label album, Seasons in the Abyss. Essentially, Seasons fuses its two predecessors, periodically kicking up the mid tempo grooves of South of Heaven with manic bursts of aggression. "War Ensemble" and the title track each represented opposite sides of the coin, and they both earned Slayer their heaviest MTV airplay to date. In fact, Seasons in the Abyss is probably their most accessible album, displaying the full range of their abilities all in one place, with sharp, clean production. Since the band is refining rather than progressing or experimenting, Seasons doesn't have quite the freshness of its predecessors, but aside from that drawback, it's strong almost all the way from top to bottom (with perhaps one or two exceptions). Lyrically, the band rarely turns to demonic visions of the afterlife anymore, preferring instead to find tangible horror in real life, war, murder, human weakness. There even full fledged social criticism, which should convince any doubters that Slayer aren't trying to promote the subjects they sing about. Like Metallica Master of Puppets or Megadeth Peace Sells...but Who's Buying, Seasons in the Abyss paints Reagan era America as a cesspool of corruption and cruelty, and the music is as devilishly effective as ever.

Shai Hulud - That Within Blood Ill Tempered (2003)

In strictly musical terms, this album is pretty impressive. Shai Hulud may not have invented the juxtaposition of tuneless, roaring vocals with intricate and sophisticated chord progressions, call it "Hard Emo Mathcore," or maybe "Metal Screamo," but on That Within Blood Ill Tempered it pretty much sets the gold standard for this particular brand of aggro rock. Despite the lack of anything approaching a vocal melody, songs like "Scornful of the Motives and Virtue of Others" and "This Song: For the True and Passionate Lovers of Music" generate enough interest with their alternately cascading and crunching guitar parts and their college, calculus rhythmic shifts that they end up holding your attention despite the sameness of the vocals. However, as you have surely gathered by now, the band's lyrical pretensions are a serious problem. The album title, the syntax of which is so affected and twisted as to render it meaningless, is fair warning: The guys in Shai Hulud appear to be suffering from a terminal case of Freshman Creative Writing Seminar, and they can't seem to tell the difference between pretentious syntax and actual intellectual content. The result is a lyrical disaster: The songs are all crawling (or perhaps "rife"? "fraught"?) with cringe inducing and often downright nonsensical pronouncements like "And man will continue to suffer unto itself Until some stand to rally the fray by firm example" or "Could any being bask in malevolence? As if its indifference might pardon it." They seem to be sincere (or so they claim, explicitly, in both the booklet design and the opening lines of the first song), but sincerity isn't enough: They need to be sincere about something in particular, and they need to be coherent in their expression of whatever it is they're sincere about. That won't happen until at least one of them figures out how to use a predicate.

Shai Hulud

A positively themed metalcore band with some straight edge and Christian leanings, the influential Shai Hulud has maintained a strong band identity since their original formation in the mid of 90's, even though their apparent inability to stick with one lineup, label, hometown, or even band name has left them with a convoluted history.
Shai Hulud formed in Pompano Beach, Florida, taking their name from the giant desert worms central to Frank Herbert's Dune mythology. The original lineup consisted of guitarists Matt Fox and Oliver Chapoy, bassist Dave Silber, and drummer Steve Kleisath, who split his time between Shai Hulud and Strongarm. Original singer Damian Moyal left the band during sessions for their first EP, 1997 A Profound Hatred of Man, replaced by Chad Gilbert in time for the band full-length debut, Hearts Once Nourished with Hope and Compassion.
Over the course of several split EP's, 1998 The Fall of Every Man with Indecision, 2000 A Whole New Level of Sickness (Together on One Convenient Format) with Another Victim, and Crush 'Em All, Vol. 1 with Boysetsfire, the band lineup continued its mutations, with new member Matt Fletcher first replacing Chapoy on guitar before shifting to bass, Gilbert leaving to play guitar in New Found Glory, and Kleisath leaving to form Further Seems Forever with Dashboard Confessional Chris Carrabba.
By the time the band recorded their second full-length album, 2003 That Within Blood Ill Tempered, the lineup had moved from Florida to Poughkeepsie, NY, and settled down to a relatively stable quartet: new recruit Geert van der Velde on vocals, Fox, Fletcher, and drummer Tony Tintari. After van der Welde departed the band in 2004, Fletcher and Fox announced that Shai Hulud was disbanding following a brief farewell tour (with Gilbert temporarily returning on vocals) and the pair was forming a new band, the Warmth of Red Blood.
Following the 2005 release of the wryly titled odds and sods compilation A Comprehensive Retrospective: Or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Release Bad and Useless Recordings, Fletcher and Fox reversed course, and in the spring of 2006 announced that Shai Hulud was re-forming with a new lineup featuring singer Eric Dellon (who is also in Fletcher and Fox's tongue-in cheek thrash side project Zombie Apocalypse), second guitarist Ryan Burns, and drummer Brian Go. The re-formed Shai Hulud signed with Metal Blade Records and began work on a new album in the summer of 2006, while former label Revelation Records released a compilation called A Profound Hatred of Man that gathered the EP of that title along with all of the non LP and split EP tracks the band recorded between 1997 and 2001.

Slayer - South of Heaven (1988)

When it comes to death metal, no band is more convincing than Slayer. For other bands, focusing on death, Satanism, the supernatural, and the occult became a cliché; but Slayer controversial reflections on evil always came across as honest and heartfelt. The group sincerity is the thing that makes South of Heaven so disturbing and powerful. when the influential thrashers rip into such morbid fare as "Spill the Blood," "Mandatory Suicide," and "Ghosts of War," they are frighteningly convincing. With their fourth album, Slayer began to slow their tempos without sacrificing an iota of heaviness or incorporating any pop elements.

Slayer - Reign in Blood (1986)

Widely considered the pinnacle of speed metal, Reign in Blood is Slayer undisputed masterpiece, a brief (under half an hour) but relentless onslaught that instantly obliterates anything in its path and clears out just as quickly. Producer Rick Rubin gives the band a clear, punchy sound for the first time in its career, and they largely discard the extended pieces of Hell Awaits in favor of lean assaults somewhat reminiscent of hardcore punk (though distinctly metallic and much more technically demanding). Reign in Blood opens and closes with slightly longer tracks (the classics "Angel of Death" and "Raining Blood") whose slower riffs offer most of the album few hints of melody. Sandwiched in between are eight short (all under three minutes), lightning, fast bursts of aggression that change tempo or feel without warning, producing a disjointed, barely controlled effect. The album is actually more precise than it sounds, and not without a sense of groove, but even in the brief slowdowns, the intensity never lets up. There may not be much variation, but it's a unified vision, and a horrific one at that. The riffs are built on atonal chromaticism that sounds as sickening as the graphic violence depicted in many of the lyrics, and Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman demented soloing often mimics the screams of the songs victims. It's monstrously, terrifyingly evocative, in a way that transcends Reign in Blood metal origins. The album almost single, handedly inspired the entire death metal genre (at least on the American side of the Atlantic), and unlike many of its imitators, it never crosses the line into self parodic overkill. Reign in Blood was a stone cold classic upon its release, and it hasn't lost an ounce of its power today.

Slayer - Live Undead (1985)

Recorded and released as a follow up to the Haunting the Chapel EP, specifically during the tour for that effort (though apparently actually in a studio with a few hypercharged fans in audible attendance), Live Undead shows the band still coming together in ways. Hell Awaits was around the corner and Reign in Blood further off yet, so the set relies on their earliest material, sometimes striking but formative nonetheless. But if nothing else Tom Araya part snarling and part merry way around death, doom, and destruction was already nearly settled, only one or two Rob Halford level shrieks sneak through here and there ("The Antichrist" cartoonishly so) while the full quartet's Judas Priest-Iron Maiden in absolute overdrive approach was already paying off. Dave Lombardo's drumming handled the steadier stomp of songs like "Die by the Sword" solidly while going to town on "Captor of Sin" and particularly "Evil Has No Boundaries," the best performance of the seven songs. Jeff Hanneman and Kerry King — the latter featuring a slightly unfortunate hairdo on the back cover, strike just enough of a balance, however unexpectedly, between technical skill and flailing chaos. Hell Awaits eventually brought all the newer changes out in fuller force, even with subpar production, so Live Undead isn't really necessary except for the hardest of hardcore fans in the end, especially in comparison to Decade of Aggression. Still, it does have its "it could only be Slayer" moments, including Araya almost casual way of rudely introducing "Captor of Sin." [Some early CD versions include the original version of "Chemical Warfare" from Haunting the Chapel as a mighty fine bonus.]
